Hello

In September 2022, I am starting as an Early Career Teacher in an ethnically and culturally diverse inner-city primary school with a high proportion of students speaking English as an additional language. I graduated with a Master in Education degree with a curriculum enhancement in SEND and  have interests in anti-racism, decoloniality, critical pedagogy and curriculum design which influence my teaching philosophy. My independent study for my master's degree examined the intersection of race, power and initial teacher education through critical discourse analysis of the language preservice teachers used to construct meanings of race and racism. I also facilitate a Race, Decoloniality and Education reading group for students enrolled on teacher education programmes, a space aspiring to advance racial and critical literacy for early career teachers.
